I am nervous ordering shutters online. What happens if I make a mistake?

What sets us apart from other shutter companies is that we call every single customer after their order is placed online. Nothing goes into production until we have spoken with you to ensure all order details are as they need to be. What is the number #1 mistake when ordering an Outside Mount?
Reading and following our Outside Mount Measuring Guide is the key to success. Customer's will often times not include the width of their chosen frame in their final dimensions. When this happens, the shutters received will fit inside the window opening and not outside. We cannot stress enough the importance of reading and following our measuring guides. They are a quick read and will ensure your success story.
Can I visit a store to look at your products?
It is not possible to view our shutters in stores. We can however send you free of charge samples to ensure you order the right shade and can see the quality of our shutters. We keep our prices super low by avoiding the costs of expensive showrooms. By dealing directly with The Shutter Store, we ensure that you receive expert advice and assistance from our fully trained staff of shutter experts. They are the best people to help with your questions and to offer assistance with your order.
How long will my order take?
Plantation shutters can be dispatched from our facility in approximately 2-4 weeks if you order our Express Shutters and 11-13 weeks (unless otherwise specified) for our other shutters ranges. These lead times stated are from after you confirm your order. We call all customers who order shutters to check their order details to ensure the order is perfect when it arrives. How much will the delivery cost me?
Shipping is free on all orders and you can rest assured that your shutters are in safe hands as we work with only the most reliable shipping partners.
*We do not ship outside the continental USA. If you reside in Alaska or Hawaii, we can ship your order to any mainland destination, shipping arrangements from there to you are your sole responsibility.
Where are the plantation shutters made?
We manufacture our shutters in the North American and China. We use top quality materials, invest directly in the best manufacturing machinery, and ensure that the staff are well looked after.
Why don’t you make all your window shutters in the US instead of China?
We want to give you options. Our costs are lower in China but the quality is the same as our American-made shutters. Our American-made products are of top quality and they are delivered sooner, but the higher manufacturing costs mean they are more expensive.
What happens if my shutters are wrong, don’t fit or arrive damaged?
We do everything in our power to ensure that the shutters you receive will arrive in perfect condition and that you will have a hassle free installation. In the event of transit damage we will work with you on a replacement piece which can be either a full shutter replacement for that line item or a parts replacement. For example, for a damaged slat, we will remake and ship a brand new slat with installation instructions. If there is a quality issue from manufacturing, we are delighted to offer a “no quibble” free replacement. Remember that we provide comprehensive measuring guides and videos on our site and we call you to check the order detail is 100% correct before we begin. Unfortunately there is always the possibility that you (the customer) will read the measure tape incorrectly, and on this occasion you must take responsibility. What arrives with my order?
Everything you need will be supplied with your order. Shutters are supplied with a custom built frame and all the hardware. Check out our installation guides for shutters to see how the process works. You will need no more than a spirit level, drill and good quality steel tape measure in order to measure and install our shutters. Depending upon your wall or window type, you may be required to supply your own wall fixings to suit but we do supply all screws.
What is the guarantee period?
All of our shutters come with a 5-year warranty as standard, protecting against any manufacturing defects and demonstrating the confidence we have in our products. Any shipping damage must be reported within 5 days of order receipt as such is not covered under guarantee period.
How can I get a price for my shutters?
To make things easy we price our shutters by the square foot. Simply enter the width and the height of your window into the quick quote tool and we will show you instantly how much our shutters cost. Prices shown in the quote do not include our delivery charges or applicable taxes. Such charges are shown at checkout.
Will I need to pay sales tax?
Yes. All US states will assess appropriate sales tax based on ship to address at time of check out. If missed, state will impose tax at order confirmation stage. As a law abiding company, we are not able to waive taxes.
When can I claim my Federal Energy Tax Credit?
Tax credit can only be claimed in the tax year the shutters where installed, not purchased​. American Wood Core shutters are the only product which qualify for the Federal Energy Tax Credit Scheme starting November 30, 2023. Any orders placed prior to that date do not qualify.
