Custom Blue Shutters in a Seafront Bay Window
This seaview office room in Rhode Ishaland had a striking bright blue installation. The contrast of the bright blue to the white painted flooring makes the shutters pop out from the rest of the room and really becomes the centre of attention. By making the shutters the focal point you can create a more minimal feel to the room. In this case the shutters have taken this further and been given a busy look by adding 2 1/2" slats, and a central pushrod on these narrow panels. Please note 20% surcharge applies to custom colours.
Bright White finished shutters with 2 1/2" slats in a bay window.
This Texas home has transformed their office from a bland room into this deep blue design with bright contrasting white shutters. White shutters tend to draw more light into the room due to reflecting more light, this is perfect for rooms you want to take as much light into as possible with only one window. By outside mounting the frames they have completely filled the bay window to give a fabulous finished look to the whole area.
Subtle bright white shutters inside mounted to recess.
The bright white shutters in this image have been installed using an inside mount to the recesses in this apartment in New York. Many apartments and modern build houses have recessed windows allowing for very simple shutter installation and not needing to protrude from the wall. The shutters have been designed with a midrail approximately two thirds up the window, this allows for the top group of slats to be moved independently from the lower section - allowing greater control of the light in the room.
Bay window shutters and half solid raised in Bright White.
This house in South Carolina has contrasted bright whites with dark shades, this bedroom gives the impression of far more light being let into the room. The three section bay window is a perfect location to add in these full height shutters, while white and bright shutters draw added light into the room and reflect more to give airy atmospheres. These shutters are constructed from smooth poplar wood and finished in bright white coloring with a central pushrod.
Café style shutters in the dining area of this modern kitchen
This home in Maine knocked through a central wall to create a large kitchen/dining area. The dining area at the front of the house has used café style shutters. Café style shutters are often used on house fronts as they allow maximum light to enter the room, while keeping privacy from any passers by. These have been constructed with Poplar wood and finished in Alabaster paint to give a smooth modern finish. By concealing the pushrod the appearance is even more minimal, matching to the general theme of the room.
Lounge café style shutters finished in an off white paint.
Boxed bay windows are perfect for shutters. They typically have a small recess so can either be outside or inside mounted, in this case they are outside mounted. Their appearance is favoured by many homes in New England, typically being built with bay or boxed bay windows . This lounge has finished the shutters in a soft, Silk White colour blending perfectly with the subtle tones of the room. A nautical atmosphere has been created using light blues and whites - again, sought after by those on the East Coast of America
3 1/2" polyvinyl shutters with custom painted rails and stiles.
These luxurious poplar shutters have been finished in a custom red paint, by removing the pushrod they have a clean modern look in keeping with the rest of this stylish bathroom. What may be better for your bathroom is polyvinyl shutters, which are waterproof, making them a perfect choice for rooms that may receive unusual levels of moisture. However this does not mean that only polyvinyl shutters can be used in bathrooms, our woods are treated to be more resistant to wet and damp areas. Please note 20% surcharge applies to custom colours only available on wooden shutters.
3 1/2"louvered shutters painted in a custom shade.
This house in the suburbs of Seattle has been completely redone using subtle shades and minimal rooms looking for a more modern appearance. The shutters here, bought from The Shutter Store, have had a custom colour matched by our paint experts. The yellow colour gives a very summery look to the room and helps to add a burst of colour to the otherwise greyscale lounge. Using central midrails in combination with 3 1/2" slats the tall shutters have kept their traditional shutter look
Poplar shutters in an arch, as seen from the outside.
Arch window treatments can be difficult to choose and shutters may look difficult to measure for but realistically they are very simple if you follow our simple instructions. There are several designs of arched shutters that you can go for, these windows have used a sunburst design - taking its name from the appearance of a sun with beams of light protruding. The shutters have been constructed in poplar wood, as you can see from the smooth finish painted in Ivory, and look great with the sash windows. Please note a $240 surcharge applied to custom shapes.
Luxurious dark stained elm shutters with 2 1/2" slats
This seafront property in Los Angeles has used dark stained shutters to contrast the otherwise bright look of the room. By doing this the focal point of the lounge becomes the shutters and any extras put in, in this case the cushions and rug. The tall windows are perfect for these outside mounted full height shutters, giving a large striking appearance. Also by using a central midrail the shutters have kept that desirable traditional feel that so many people in America seek for their houses - it certainly keeps in suiting with the white painted flooring in this room.
Dark stained shutters with large slats covering an external door.
Fitting with the wooden theme of this room, these dark stained shutters are perfectly suited. The installation is split into three separate frames as to match the irregular window shapes in this modern new build beach home. Additional to this the beach home shutters ability to bifold allows them to easily be folded back and not protruding into the room too much. Many people never fold back their shutters and simply tilt the slats, obviously when designing your shutter door installation this is something that must be thoroughly thought out.
Custom coloured full height shutters in a childs bedroom.
Plantation shutters are great for children's bedrooms, giving the ability to full control light and especially for those with early bedtimes! This shutter has fitted narrow panels and central pushrods to create a busy, yet traditional look. This look is favoured by many wanting to keep their child's room looking quaint. The shutters have been outside mounted to the sash windows in this bay. Sash windows, found commonly in older homes, are perfect for plantation shutters as long as they are fitted taking care of the mechanisms. Please note 20% surcharge applies to custom colours.
