We love to see our customers’ completed DIY projects, and we really admire the creativity we see so regularly!
Many of our customers think outside the box when using shutters as a regular window treatment, and they have returned to The Shutter Store for various special projects. Let’s have a look at some of our favorite shutter décor ideas.
Barn Door Style Shutters
Increasingly popular, barn door style shutters slide back and forth on a track. These are becoming a staple in farmhouse style homes which feature
rustic shutter décor.
Many customers will order our shutters as panels-only, with no frame, and mount the panels directly to their own tracking system.
This can be done with a barn door style track, or a more traditional top/bottom track system for bypass sliding patio door shutters.
It’s great to see that our handiest customers turn to us as their source for custom shutters for their special projects!

Cabinet Doors
Custom-made to any size, why not choose shutters as cabinet doors? Our
solid raised panel shutters look more like traditional cabinet doors, or for a more cottage style home, you can opt for
louvered plantation shutters as cabinet doors.

Closet Doors or Room Dividers
Want to cover a bedroom closet, linen closet, separation between two rooms, or an open storage space? We see many customers using plantation shutters to create a doorway for these purposes.
Plantation shutters give you the privacy you need with an elegant style and give you the option to swing the panels fully open for accessibility when needed. You can also control how much the slats are open or closed for privacy or visibility when desired.

Bahama Shutters
Known for their breezy, tropical style, Bahama shutters are a fun way to add your unique style to your window coverings.
This is a little more advanced installation, as our customers will need to ask for no hinges attached and are responsible for their own mounting hardware. For those handy enough to install these, our beautiful quality shutters will be the perfect custom-sized panels for your project.

Create a Mock Window
Outside mount plantation shutters can also be used to create the look of a window in a room with no windows.
Many of our customers will use decorative shutters as a mock window. Some have even used the shutters to surround a poster or artwork with outdoor scenery on it to create the illusion of a window.
