Box Bay Windows

A box bay has side windows that meet the central window at a 90-degree angle at the corner of the wall. Each panel is again measured and ordered separately. Because the frames meet at right angles, the fit is usually very clean and straightforward.

Curved or Bow Bay Windows

A curved bay features multiple windows positioned at a slight angle to create a bow shape. This is the most complex bay type to dress, but our made-to-measure shutters handle it well. Each individual panel is measured and ordered separately to follow the curve of the bay.

Separate Recessed Windows

If your bay windows are set within their own individual recesses with solid wall between each panel, you can follow our standard measuring guide as you would for any regular window. Each window is simply treated as an individual shutter order.

Each window panel in a bay is measured and ordered separately as an individual shutter unit. The critical thing is ensuring the dimensions for each panel allow all frames to fit together without overlapping or obstructing one another at the angles or corners. Printing our frame templates to scale is a useful step, as it lets you visualise exactly where each frame will sit before you order.

Installing

One useful tip for bay window installations is to request no pre-drilled holes in the frames, as the structure of the bay often means the top and bottom frames need to be drilled as an inside mount into the recess, while the side frames are drilled as an outside mount or fixed to the adjacent shutter frame.
