Plantation shutters are hands down the longest-lasting window treatment available. They are an investment in your home and will outlast any curtains, blinds, or shades, while continuing to offer privacy, style, and practical benefits for years to come.
Our shutters all come with a 5-year warranty against any manufacturing defects. However plantation shutters often last 10 years or more and are a genuine long-term fixture in your home.
The longevity of shutters compared to other window treatments is one of their strongest selling points:
Window Treatment | Average Lifespan |
|---|---|
Plantation Shutters | 10 to 20+ years |
Curtains | 3 to 5 years |
Blinds | 5 to 8 years |
All our shutters are 100% solid — either solid hardwood or solid polyvinyl with an aluminum core. Nothing hollow, nothing composite. This gives them the structural integrity to withstand daily use without warping, sagging, or deteriorating over time.
Every shutter we manufacture is coated with a minimum of 7 layers of paint or stain, with UV protectant and sealant mixed directly into the finish. This means:
White shutters will not yellow in direct sunlight
Painted and stained shutters will not fade, chip, or peel
The finish is built to last the lifetime of the shutter
Our polyvinyl shutters are fully waterproof and will not warp, crack, or discolor in humid environments. They are an ideal long-term solution for bathrooms, kitchens, or any area with moisture exposure.
Plantation shutters require minimal maintenance to stay in great condition:
Regular dusting with a dry cloth or feather duster is all that is usually needed
Minor repairs such as slat tension adjustment or hinge tightening take just minutes
Touch-up paint is included with every order for any minor cosmetic repairs over time
