Color Trend: Pantone’s Colors of 2016

Ros Anderson 12/15/2015 1:22:47 PM Home Decor and Design, Inspiration

While you might currently be surrounded by a riot of festive red and green, interior designers and trend forecasters are already turning their attention to which colors are going to be influencing our interiors in 2016. Color brand Pantone have already led the way, announcing their Colors of 2016 earlier this month. In the midst of winter their ideas of what will be going on our walls – not to mention floors, ceilings and windows! – in the year ahead is a welcome taste of spring. We have a look at some of their selected colors, and how you can bring them into your own home with our products…

Color of the year in 2016

The key pairing is two light and soothing colors that work brilliantly together – Rose Quartz and Serenity. Rose Quartz is a pretty, light pink while Serenity is a calming pale blue, and together the two balance each other perfectly. As the names suggest, they’re restful colors with more than a hint of femininity, and we think they’d be perfect for a sleep-inducing bedroom or a pretty breakfast room that’s flooded with sunlight.

Ready for some more? The other two prominent predictions are bolder and perhaps more suited to the height of summer – or perfect for creating that beach-house vibe whatever time of year you’re decorating.

Peach Echo adds a bright splash of tropical heat to the mix, and we think it would look great for a fun space like a home office – team with smart black and white prints to keep the look contemporary. Snorkel Blue, meanwhile, well the name says it all. An ocean blue that is cool but arresting and will look wonderful with crisp whites to evoke the timeless style of the Greek islands or mixed with other darker shades for a more metropolitan interpretation.

If you’re planning on an update at home with some of these key colors then don’t forget – painting the walls isn’t the only place to add a hit of color that will set off your scheme perfectly.
