Help Choosing the design and style of your inside plantation shutters for installation

Most customers have a clear idea of the shutter design, panel configuration and color options they desire, but here’s a few tips to help…

Café style shutter cover the lower section of your window only. Gives good privacy for a kitchen or living space where darkening the room at night is not an issue. Full height shutters cover the whole window and can incorporate a divide rail for independent louver control on the top and bottom. Tier on tier panels see the top panels opening separately from the bottom and works best with narrower panels which can fold onto each other.

If you’re not going to open the panels back often go with fewer panels, making the panels wider. If folding them back regularly, narrower panels which can fold onto each other and ‘stack’ works best.

Painted shutters in a neutral shade of white are our most popular seller as you can change your room décor and the shutters still work. However, a neutrally decorated room looks stunning with shutters in a rich wood stain.

We’re fans of larger louvers, such as 3 1/2” and 4 1/2”. That said, big slats in traditionally styled homes can look out of place and smaller louvers often work best with less contemporary décor.
