The shutters shown in this family room are installed on a bay window. This design is works well as the customer does not intend to open the shutter panels on a regular basis. Instead, they intend to tilt and adjust the slats to allow light to enter the room instead of folding open the shutters.

The shutters here are custom made, specifically to fit this window. Therefore, you can see that the horizontal divide rail on the shutters lines up exactly with the framing on this customers window. This makes a big difference as opposed to buying cut downs or off the shelf shutters which don’t match exactly the framing of your window.

Shutters can be ordered from The Shutter Store in a variety of different slat sizes. These, as shown on this shutter installation, are 3 ½” slats and have regular front facing push rods to tilt and adjust the slats. The shutters are made from FSC certified yellow poplar hardwood and the paint has a UV protective quality which ensures the shutters will not fade and discolor with the effect of the sun.
