All shutters that we make at The Shutter Store are made from premium grade hardwood. Poplar and Elm are the 2 woods that we use for construction of our shutters. All wood is treated to ensure no warping, twisting or distortion when the shutters are installed in your home. Importantly, all wood used in construction of your shutters is FSC approved meaning that the wood is only harvested from ethically managed forests, thus supporting the environment.

The shutters here are made from elm and stained with a black walnut stain. The stain applied to these elm shutters soaks into the deep grain, characteristic of elm. Therefore you find stunning shade differences – stain soaking into deep crevices of the elm gives a dark appearance, while stain on the surface of the shutters has a lighter effect.
