In many part of America, there is a preference for fauxwood shutters (made from materials such as PVC or MDF) over real wood shutters. There is a perception that shutters for windows made from materials such as PVC are going to be longer lasting and more resilient to the vagaries of extreme climates (ie – some people think installing wood shutters in very hot or very cold locations will lead to problems, which is not the case).

Our faux shutters are made from a premium quality PVC. This is not a cheap hollow vinyl shutter that you see advertised for a ‘too good to be true’ price at many big box home improvement retailers. Our faux shutters are state of the art, made from an exceptionally durable PVC which has an aluminum core, to pervert and warping or twisting of the shutter panels or louvers.

The photo here shows white plantation shutters that have been measured and installed as ‘inside mount’. Look closely and you can see that the shutters are mounted inside a 4 sided frame, which sits inside the window recess, tight to the window. This design means that when the shutter panels are physically opened, they will only open to a 90 degree angle as the shutter panels will hit the side of the recess. Given this limitation for this particular design on the shutters for windows in this photo, these panels are best used where the panels remain, for the majority of the time, in the closed position and the shutter slats are tilted to light the room.

The shutters shows here have 3 ½” slats. These slats let in plenty of light the louvers on the panels are tilted open – therefore, any restriction you may perceive in not opening the panels on a regular basis is not an issue.
