The designer range of wood shutters sold via online shutters website, The Shutter Store, features a range of interesting paint an stain finishes. Kelly Hoppen was the designer who created the range of unique finishes, with the distressed white shutters shown being a popular choice.
Many customers have referred to the color looking like white washed shutters or like a distressed white finish. The stain applied combines 2 different tones which when absorbed by the wood (in this case Elm) give a wonderful effect, rather than looking like a standard white wood stained shutter.
This photo shows 4 panels that are hinged 2 to open left and 2 bifolding right. If you look at the side profile of the shutter panels you can see the flat profile of the shutter louver which was designed by Kelly. This differs from the regular ellipsoid shape of shutter louver that traditional panels have.
Distressed paint on shutters can be tricky as you have to be sure that the paint itself does not peel off the shutters. This finish as shown is still subject to the same exactingly high standards and rigorous paint and stain process that our wood shutters enjoy.
You can order a sample slat to confirm the color choice for your shutters before you order. If you require any design advice, Kelly Hoppen herself talks about her shutters range in inspirational video interiews.
